Waiting. . .

A few months ago someone said to me "Sometimes the anticipation is better than the participation." This really got me thinking. It is indeed true that sometimes that waiting, anticipation and excitement for an event is really the best part. I find that there are occasions where the event has passed and I am left feeling disappointed; my expectations were not satisfied. Often I find myself wanting to go back to the anticipation, as it was more fun than the participation. I pass these words onto to you so that, perhaps, you can enjoy the anticipation next time.

I am currently trying to use these words of wisdom as I wait for my nursing school acceptance. I dutifully submitted my application well before the October 15th deadline, only to find out that no decisions would be made until the final grades were submitted for the Fall 2010 semester. I hoped for an early Christmas gift of an acceptance letter, but am told not to expect the verdict until the second week of January. This leaves me with A LOT of anticipation, which I am trying to enjoy, but mostly I am just feeling VERY impatient.

The purpose of this blog is rather selfish, but perhaps it will turn out to be of some benefit to someone somewhere, or maybe my family and friends will just enjoy keeping up with my nursing school adventures. The selfish part is that this blog can be compiled into a book at some point in the future and I think that would be a really neat thing to have so that I may look back on this journey and be reminded of both the ANTICIPATION and the PARTICIPATION.

  1. I love that you started this, Michele!

"The days are long, but the years are short" - this time will seem like such a long stretch but in the scope of things it will pass like a flash. So glad that you're capturing the details for the years to come!
